Lese Dunton's is the founder of Dunton Publishing, a content development and media company that owns The New Sun Newspaper, online since 1994, and Looking for Humor, which launched in 2021.
The New Sun's mission is "to seek the best in life and give it good coverage." People magazine said, "It has caught the eye of high-placed optimists."
Looking for Humor's mission is to find it, collect it, and spread it.
In addition to raising capital, her work with The New Sun has included interviewing George Harrison, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Pulitzer Prize-winner Jimmy Breslin, Governor Mario Cuomo, President Jimmy Carter, tennis champ John McEnroe, and folk singer Judy Collins, among many others, while simultaneously editing the publication. Along with People magazine, TNS has been featured on CNN, NY1, WOR, and National Public Radio. In 2005, Lese produced and hosted The New Sun Radio Show on WBAI FM Radio. Since 2011 Dunton Publishing has helped clients to self-publish their print books, e-books, and audiobooks, and secured a provisional patent and funding for Talkettes, a 15-second soundbite invention.
Ms. Dunton is the author of six books, most recently Charlotte's New York Adventure, a 3-book funny series about a little girl who teams up with the Statue of Liberty and becomes the mayor of New York. Before that, Simple Advice for a Happy Life, a picture book illustrated by Raggedy Anne creator Johnny Gruelle, Betsy and the Golden Room, an action-adventure tale, and Mystics in the City, a series of interviews on spiritual subjects.
Her short stories have been published in the collection books Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child and My Dog is My Hero (Adams Media), and she has written and narrated audiobooks for Reading Town publishers.
Lese has held a variety of positions including writer, editor, artist, and producer for CBS Television, The Village Voice, The New York Daily News, Life magazine and The Wall Street Journal. She was also Interim Director of Communications for The Riverside Church.
Her articles have appeared in The New York Daily News, The New York Post, Edible Manhattan, and Celebrate With Style.
In the healthcare field she was the outreach/partnership coordinator for the Midtown Center for Complementary Care, publicist for NY Presbyterian Hospital's Department of Complementary Medicine, and market researcher for St. Vincent's Holistic Health Center.
